Who sinned?

I was thinking about the verse where the disciples asked Jesus, “Who sinned.” It was concerning a man born blind. The idea that if someone is sick, it must be punishment from God in someway. This is such a wrong concept of God. God is good, the devil is bad! Why is it people look for a reason, or a fault? In Jesus answer, there is a powerful concept. Jesus answered the disciples, “Neither he, or his parents sinned, but it is so that the glory of God may be revealed”…

We know that God can take any bad circumstance, and make good come out of it. That is where His power is revealed, that He can make all things work together for good. All things.

Years ago, I was moved by stories of some missionaries who wanted to reach some unreached people deep in the jungles of Ecuador. All five were missionaries were killed by the same people they sought to reach. To some it may have looked like failure, but how God turned it to the glory of God revealed, when hundreds of young couples, after hearing their story, gave all to God, and became a missionary force in all the earth. After reading this story, (Through gates of Splendor), Karyn and prayed several times, “God, we give our life to you. If ever we have the opportunity to give our life, in our service, it is yours.”

For now, as Karyn walks through this, and we believe for healing. But in the end, however He works, our only prayer is, God we want to glorify you.

I will say this, how privileged I am to see the faith of a woman of God, her strength, grace, and faith amaze me. This is not a punishment from God, many are watching, and touched by her walk. We trust in Him!

    Hi Robert,

We met you in July/August of 1991. You may remember us…we will never forget you and your church. We were in Peru for two months adopting our daughter Christina. You and Raul and his fiance helped us cut through caame to the airport to make sure we would get through customs, etc. OK.

Next week we are returning to Peru (Feb 12-22) for Christina to visit her homeland and Chris, my husband will be teaching Simply The Story ( oral inductive Bible Study) at the Calvary Chapel Bible College in Lima for five days (actually evenings). You might recall he is senior pastor of CC of the Pass in Banning/Beaumont/CA. We also have a couple of Compassion International kids in Lima that we will visit one day. We had hoped to return to Peru sooner and travel with Fausto but we never seemed to be able to get our plans with him organized. So, we are finally getting there this next week.

It is our hope to attend your church again and at least to say hi and thank you again, in person, for all you did for us. We have often talked about and wondered how it all went with the orphanage you were restoring when we were there.

In reading your website I read about Kayrn…we will pray for her as she travels this path toward God’s total healing of her cancer.

So, hopefully we can connect with you in Lima,

May the Lord give you a special blessing this day,

    Jenelle Johnson

Your church family at Church of the Redeemer is praying for Karyn’s healing as well!

    Psalm 103
    Of David.
    1 Praise the LORD, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2 Praise the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits-

3 who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,

4 who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,

5 who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
